Performing the Super Mario Bros. theme song is totally cliché at this point, but I’m fascinated by laser etching machines — especially those with a musical slant.
Coded by “Jed,” a member of Toronto’s HackLab collective, this performance was accomplished using the tones created by the activation of the laser cutter’s motors. By perfectly timing each motor’s spin-up and spin-down cycles, “Jed” was able to achieve an eerily perfect rendition of the classic gaming tune.
Now if only they could program the machine to play this tune while etching a Mario-themed laptop design.
